Welcome to my webpages. I've made these pages mainly to tell war stories from Vietnam. Nobody ever wanted to hear them but I wanted to tell them so I tell them here.

I spent a year in Vietnam from August 14, 1970 to August 13, 1971. The first two weeks after I arrived in country I was at Chu Lai's Combat Training Center. We received additional training in jungle warfare there and when my training time was over I was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry, 196th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division. All of my time in combat was experienced with this company. The stories I write are about my experiences while with Charlie Company. I was neither a hero nor a coward but just an average young man thrust into circumstances beyond my control. I somehow managed to get through the experience without being physically wounded but it was not for lack of the enemy trying to kill me. I could have easily been dead many times. Some did die. Some lost limbs or eyes. For myself the innocence of youth died and the experience changed me forever.

I've also written a few stories about other things which have happened to me in my life. Things which were important enough for me at the time to stick in my memory or influence my thinking.

I live in Oregon. I haven't always lived here but I plan to remain here until life is over. I've taken a few pictures and made some pages to show them. You might be interested. It's really nice here. A good place to be. If you come here you might not want to go back home.

I keep a blog where I write mainly political observations. I like to say mean things about the United States Republican Party but they deserve it. I also blog about the experiences I have with my Linux computer operating system. I've used Linux for about ten years and it's my operating system of choice now. I may blog about anything else which is on my mind so some random stuff shows up there occasionally.
